0world background Evolving Web – Trends – Web 3.0Did you notice how rapidly the Web is changing? Following the evolving web, this means that your Internet marketing strategy must change with it.

Let’s lay out the ground of an idea which looks trivial at the first glance,   so I don’t think  that is trivial.

The web has evolved as since the  1990s. At that point, the Internet was one-way source of information. Web pages were a marketing medium where they were viewed, read and printed out, no more than that!
The internet was a good resource for researching information but marketing was based on an old fashion offline advertising techniques.

Now we know three stages of web evolvement that you need to be aware of:

    • Web 1.0
    • Web 2.0
    • Web 3.0

Web 1.0 was a one-way communication process, it was like you read you favorite Sport magazine.

Web 2.0 represented the mass introduction of user-generated content. This is where blogging and social networking came in for the masses. People formed their own communities on niche topics and began interacting between themselves.

Note: How Web 2.0 marketing differs from Web 1.0 marketing
Web 1.0 marketing lets you speaking to your visitors, but Web 2.0 marketing allows you to interact with your visitors.

Web 2.0 is not about your advertising your web services. It’s about you developing relationships with people and offering value – free of charge
with no catch attached. If people like you and what you represent then they’ll find out more about you from reading your profile on whatever social network you’re participating on. That’s where you can sell your business.

Web 3.0 it is around the corner, and the web is evolving to become a more
personalized experience for each user. There are 2 ways so far to do this:

    • Virtual Reality Marketing
    • MyPage Marketing (iGoogle)
    • BARD Marketing

The quality of software programs that produce a virtual reality experience increased tremendously in the last 2-3 years. Now we can use virtual reality programs to simulate real life experiences.

An example of a Virtual Reality website is Second Life. At this point, Second Life is not as popular as the social networking sites but considering companies which have already invested in the Second Life project, I have no doubt that Second life will be the next success site on Web 3.0.

After you join Second Life you can bid to buy virtual land. As soon as you own your own Second Life land you can build a business, employ people, the sky is the limit.  I suggest to read frequently asked questions which will help you start your own ‘second life’, you will find examples of businesses that are already successful in Second Life, and you will be well position to think how you could run your own Second Life business.

MyPage Marketing is a generic term for your effort on the personalizing home pages or personal profile pages of social networking sites. Google now offer their users the option to personalize their home page – they call this your iGoogle page, but it is just a Google Gadget for you. You just select “Add stuff” at the top right hand side of the page to search for ideas within your niche which are of interest.
Your Google Gadget is a really useful free tool, if you create a good useful Google Gadget, you really can lead people down your personal Internet marketing funnel.

When you’re logged into your iGoogle page, you also have the option to create your own gadget. Just click “Try it now” to get started. This “try it now” page shows you different options for how you can easily create your own personalized gadget.
You can design your own Google Gadget – or have your own Google Gadget
designed for you. That’s where the internet marketing opportunity is. If you can persuade people from your list to download your Google Gadget and have it on their own iGoogle page, this will rise up the popularity ranking within the Google Gadgets search engine, allowing more people will become aware of it.
There are no limits for design and costs for producing your own gadgets are minimal.

The main constraint is just your imagination and the main advantage is your will to use it.

Beyond All Reasonable Doubt (BARD) Marketing, a legal branding, marketing and advertising agency, announces a new advertising solution for the legal community. BARD Virtual Reality TV brings together, for the first time, the combination of:

    • a state-of-the-art high-definition virtual reality digital studio
    • movie-quality video production talent, and
    • top-notch legal marketing expertise

to create effective television commercials and web video at a price never before available.

I hope I give you some trends, the flavor of  Web 3.0. and make you curious enough to explore more.

    To your success

What are Google Gadgets, where can they be obtained, which are the advantages and disadvantages of using them? I consider those legitimate questions and I am answering with a post. Mary thanks for asking.

Gadgets are simple HTML and JavaScript applications that can be embedded directly in your Desktop, Sitebar or you can use Gadgets to make your web pages more interesting and useful to your visitors. They are important because nowadays we are more visual oriented, lecturing is out even in schools.

We have the following categories of Gadgets:

    • Featured
    • Desktop or SiteBar
    • Website

A different classification divides Gadgets in:

    • Gadgets created by Google
    • Gadgets powered by Google, they are miniature objects made by Google users that offer cool and dynamic content that can be placed on any page on the web

In general first 2 types of Gadgets are created by Google and type 3 is a directory of Gadgets powered by Google, but it is not in stone, and don’t forget each day more Gadgets can be added to the directory, creating rules on a such dynamic field is not working.

With Gadgets created by Google you have full confidence to use them, they are safe.
The Gadgets created by users are increasingly juicy targets for hackers, you can use them but I admit it is a risk you take.

The Google Gadgets are FREE, go to:   http://desktop.google.com/

from where you can install Google Desktop. During installation you must chose:

    • Desktop search
    • Sidebar with gadgets

    Google Desktop search help you:

    • To search “your computer” as easily as you search the web with Google, find and launch applications and files with just a few keystrokes
    • Gives you up-to-the-minute information through interactive mini-applications that can be placed anywhere on your desktop or on your iGoogle page to show you new email, weather, photos and personalized news
    • Provides for you full text search over your email, photos, music, files, chats, web pages that you have viewed, and more

When you do a Desktop search, you’ll go to a page showing you the most relevant search results, each of which include: the file name, and a brief snippet with your search terms highlighted.
The fastest way to search the web, and your own computer, is to use the Quick Search Box in the center of your desktop, you must press the “Ctrl” button twice to call up the search box, and press “Ctrl” twice again to hide it.

    Also you can:

    • Filter for a particular type of item, using the links at the top of the page
    • Type just a few letters or words into the search box and your get instantly the results
    • Use it to launch applications without having to surf the Start menu; for example, you can launch Open Office by typing “ope” into the Quick Search Box and selecting “Open Office” in the list of results that appears
    • Finding Deleted Files, Google Desktop creates cached copies of your files each time you view them, and stores these copies on your computer’s hard drive. You can often use Desktop to find items you accidentally deleted
    • Use Advanced Search Form, you can easily specify the type of search you want to do without having to remember specific search operators, or restrict what time period your results are from
Outlook Integration. Google Desktop makes searching your Outlook email more convenient by adding a toolbar into Outlook. You open Outlook and type a request into the search box. Outlook will display the search results. Each result also shows a message snippet containing your search terms. You can sort the result list by clicking on its column headers and can jump to locations in the list by typing a letter. The Outlook Integration make Outlook more friendly.

Google Desktop search really is a handy tool.

First you install it, and Google Desktop starts indexing the email, files and web history stored on your computer. This is one time process and indexing occurs only when your computer is idle for more than 30 seconds, so it shouldn’t slow down your machine’s performance, but the duration depends on the number of items you have.

After installation is the Google Desktop job to make sure your index stays up to date based on your daily activity.

    Google Gadgets on Sidebar
Sidebar is a vertical bar on your desktop that helps you keep your gadgets organized, it is as a control panel for your gadget. The sidebar gadgets let you:

    • Add Google Gadgets to customize your desktop: iGoogle, get news, weather and more
    • Add Gadgets Interface

To find new gadgets, click on the “+” button at the top of your sidebar or select “Add gadgets” from the option menu, now you can view gadgets by category by clicking on the left menu or search for specific gadgets by using the search box in the top right. If you find the gadget you want, just mouse over it and click the “Add” button.

    Note:
If you’d rather not have a sidebar, you can:

    • Minimize it into either a deskbar, keeping small search box right in your Windows taskbar or use a floating deskbar which includes a search box that floats above all other windows and can be dragged anywhere you want on your desktop. This is so cool, just try it.
    • Both options allow you to quickly launch applications or search your computer and the web.

Examples of Google Desktop Gadgets, last time I looked over I found out 49,613 of them :
Weather Globe, a huge variety of Clocks, Media Player Remote,, Games, Music Player, Wikipedia Search, TV Set, Gmail Notifier, Count Down Timer, On-line Dictionary, eBay Auction Watch, Laptop Check, Facebook Gadget, Vista Game Gadget, BBC News, Stock Market Tracker, Universal Currency Convector, Temperature Convector, Technology News, Google Video,  Virus Alert and  so on.

    Google Gadgets on Website.
You can put Gadgets directly on any pages of your websites, to download some of them you go to a Google directory where you will find over 48,000 Gadgets:
    http://www.google.com/ig/directory?synd=open

    Examples:
Map, Weather Forecast, Clock and Date, Search you Tube, The Weather Channel, Watch: ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC Shown On-line,  ESPN Tabbed Sports Feeds, Midi Music Jukebox, Search eBay, Driving Directions, Pablo Picasso Art Of The Day, Travel National Geographic, Bible Verset Of The Day, Dayly Horoscopes and so on.

Those are Gadgets powered by Google, created  by Google users like you and me, they  offer a dynamic content that can be placed on any page on the web.

There is an overlap between Google Gadgets and Gadgets powered by Google, to find out which you are dealing with, you click on the name on the top of the Gadget mini-picture and you will get a small description from where you find out who created the Gadget.

In summary, you really can reach millions of users, as  you can make your gadgets to run on multiple:

    • Web pages
    • Blogs, and
    • Products like: iGoogle, Google Maps, Orkut and so on

This is the reason people use gadgets, it is a way to drive free traffic, and provide useful content in the process. This is the bottom line, many gadgets are viewed millions of times daily bases and can generate significant traffic for you.

I give you my example. When I just started my new blog, the one you are reading now, I posted 3 posts and I wasn’t ranked in Alexa yet.  One day I added a Twitter Gadget and Twitter Counter, and I was ranked for the fist time as 6,240,555. I continue adding posts, gadgets and plug-ins, and my rank in Alexa jump to 3,552,997 and now after 3 weeks it is 2,055,586.  It is not  the best rank possible, it is a modest improvement but for a three weeks old blog, I am happy about it.

If you want to create a  Gadgets, is not as complicated as you may think, just go to:
    http://www.seoish.com/how-to-make-google-gadgets/

and you will find out step-by-step information about it.

Until next time all the best for you
